    Vent line



    Hi friends,

    Would you please let me know in this type of receiver "Surge type" where we should install vent line ?

    I think where you have it, is OK.
    Assuming this line is connecting into main compressor discharge line, which I would call a "Balance" line.

    As Ranger says it should vent back to the condenser inlet pipe

    Saturation is the equilibrium state at the surface of the liquid in the receiver. So should liquid as returned from the condenser be colder than the saturation corresponding to the condensing pressure and the liquid flow to the low side downstream of the receiver be equal to or less than the rate at which the condensers are delivering, the liquid flow will go right past the receiver and remain colder than the apparent saturation temperature.....
