    cooling tower & humidity

    dear all

i know that cooling towers do not be efficient on humid atmosphere ,,,,but what is the maximum relative humidity we can allow to install cooling tower?
    thanks

    Re: cooling tower & humidity

    afeef,

The cooling tower capacity quickly reduces as the entering air wet bulb temperature increases. If the entering air relative humidity is 100% then the wet bulb temperature is the same as the dry bulb temperature, so the capacity would be almost zero.

You can derate the tower capacity for higher entering air wet bulb temperatures but this has the effect of increasing the tower cost and size.

When the wet bulb temperature begins to reach 80F (26.6C) the tower sizes, costs, and capacities change very quickly.
