    Re: Air Conditioning Systems

It isn't a question of make, it is a question of being correctly sized to do the job required.

Simon, If the machine has a deeper evaporator coil, it will remove more moisture from the air than a machine with a shallower coil. Also, you can try running a larger machine with lower air speeds (slow the fan down) provided it is within the design limits.

As an example - If you have a 5kw total cooling requirement, you can use something like an 8kW machine running at low fan speed. The ratio of air flow to fin area is the key. If the air is slowed down, and coil size remains the same, the total cooling is reduced from 8kw (at full fan speed) to near your target of 5kW. This will consist of a combination of cooling and moisture extraction.

The cooling part (sensible heat) which is linked to the airflow is reduced, but the moisture extraction (latent heat) which is linked to the area of the fins in contact with the air, remains the same.

The ratio between the sensible cooling and the latent cooling has now changed with the latent part being a much larger proportion of the total 5kW of cooling.

    Re: Air Conditioning Systems

Air conditioners have become a necessity these days due to an enormous increase in electricity tariffs and mercury levels. Air conditioners have star rated energy efficiency ratings (EER), standardised by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). In comparison to the one with lower star rating, unit with more stars are more likely to consume less electricity.
