    Defrost sensor

Normally we are asked to insert the defrost sensor between the fins on the evaporator coil where we assume where the most ice will build up.
Did anyone see the defrost sensor mounted on the U bends of the evaporator coil or did anyone mounted the sensor on the U bends of the evaporator coil and experienced the efficiency.

Your kind suggestions will be appreciated.

All such device we are aware of are intended to mount on a straight piece of tubing.

We would anticipate that mounting a normal transmitter-receiver type sensor to a return bend would NOT reflect the frosted condition of the finned coil bank. Many installations frost the return bends when the portion of coil exposed to high air velocity is not frosted at all.

Only probes I've seen on bends is hot gas system...... on electric df I normally fit away from heaters near tev at top corner where ice builds
