    Rob,

First, when working on Samsung kit, don't turn the power off - just press K3 (pushbutton 3 in the outdoor unit). Turning the power off if the ambient temp is low, especially on splits and older kit, will take you in to Crankcase Heater (CH) mode and you might have to wait up to 4 hrs for the unit to start.

    Anyhow, E419...
It is the EEV controlling the "A" indoor unit, failing to open / close. Normally, especially if it is a new install, this means that the pipework or comms cables are crossed. (it is detected by the temp sensors in the indoor unit so if A is asking for cooling and B's evaporator get cold...)
If you look on the sticker inside outdoor unit's cover, you will see that K4 (pushbutton 4) can be used to get the display to show what is going on in the system. IIRC, if you push K4 four times it will display how many steps EEV-A should be open, you can then see if this correspond to what is happening with the temp of the pipework.

As a side note; Samsung's computer interface / service tool can be picked up from any Samsung distributor, RRP £180. The interface will work on both DVM S (VRF) and splits but the software to use differs, you want SnetPro for the split (For the DVM S the software is called SnetPro2). The software itself is free, easy to use and will give you all the system readings in real time.

    Happy hunting.

    Thanks Viking

We have moved away from Samsung because a few years ago the chaps had a 100% failure on outdoor PCB's which caused a lot of grief.

This is a 5 year old install which we relocated to another part of the customers house. Anyhoo I powered off and removed the mains. Left it much longer and refitted. All run up ok..

    Thanks :-)
