Lightbulb Scroll fan rattle problem FTKS71HVMG

    Dear All,

I am new and an aspiring DIY enthusiast and i have been cleaning my own mini split a Daikin FTKS25DVM with no problems. Enough with my mini intro and with a proper description of my problem as below.

My gf's FCU which is a FTKS71HVMG has been experiencing a scroll fan rattle and I have visual confirmation that it is a particular impeller rim that has been hitting the frame of the housing causing the rattle.

In addition, i found that the hex socket screw (grub screw) that supposedly secures the scroll fan to the spindle was missing. I located a screw specialist and promptly bought a 4MX6 and secured it.

It was a pain in the butt to secure that screw because i had no idea how to remove the drain tray which prevented easy access. On the smaller FTKS25DVM, i could access a screw in the inner recess behind (and in between) the electrical panel as well as the A tower coil. Some torsion twist and turns, the drain tray could be out. I am just stumped by the FTKS71HVMG.

I thought the removal procedure would be the same but i think i am wrong.

    Can anyone comment on

1.) What i can do to remove the drain tray
2.) The cause of the scroll fan rim hitting the housing?

    Very much appreciated!

I would guess the fan motor bearings have worn.
I love the smell of Ammonia in the morning!

    1. Nothing. Drain tray is integral part of indor unit housing. Fan cage cannot be removed without removing first the heat exchanger.
    2. Loose fixing screw. It should be 5mm gap between fan cage and housing.
