    compressor capacity question

    Hello,

I got a single door kegerator that originally had a 1/6 hp 450 btu r12 compressor.
Coldparts just sent me a 1/8 hp 400 btu r134a compressor. I will be charging it with r134a.
Should I send the compressor back or not. I'm thinking I will lose some capacity just from switching to r134a. Will the cap tube be sized correctly? Or should I change the cap tube based on the supco or JB sizing chart?

This unit will be for personal use so I thought I would save some bucks, and I ordered the compressor from coldparts.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jake

    Re: compressor capacity question

Faulty fractional Horse Power compressors should be replaced with a suitable match, or at least within 5% +-.
Get on the blower and ask why they sent you a smaller Pot.

    Re: compressor capacity question

Can you check the capacity that your new compressor gives for R12? I am sure you know, but depending on the refrigerant you use your compressor gives different capacities. Maybe your new compressor gives the same capacity for R12?

    Good luck.
