    Asbestos Removal

Any suggestions on how to remove asbestos insulation off of vessels and suction lines and reinsulate when the existing insulation is frozen. Has been on the piping and vessels for the past 30 some odd years and is need of repair/replacement. Problem is we cannot shut down the refrigeration for long periods of time maybe 48 hours at best. Has anyone gone through this before or am I up a creek with out a paddle.

After so many years I believe it is time to replace complete vessels and pipes ... not sure if your vessel can pass hydrotest now - too much rust and vessel&pipe walls are not good anymore ...

I have no idea what to suggest you because we do not have enough data about your plant ...

actually, I have only one idea, but not sure if that one is good ... to put new insulation layer above old insulation ... first you need to instal a good vapour bariere over old insulation and then additional layer of new insulation .... of course if you have enough space ... too many ... if

to put new insulation on frozen pipes and vessels (when old insulation is removed) is not good idea at all.. plant is too old ....maybe somebody else will come with some other suggestion ....

    Best regards, Josip
