    Csr csir help needed

    Hi all,

I have a csir cimpressor but only csr electrics.

    My question is this.

Can I remove the run capacitor and use the remaining electrics as csir bearing in mind I have to go from current relay to potential relay ??

I see no reason not to unless thee windings are specifically designed.

I have also had no help from embraco etc

    Kindest regards

    Hi Lastguest,
Have you got the compressor details to hand? Most CSIR are smaller units 1/2hp etc., and use Current relay. Most CSR are on the larger side 3/4 - 1hp and use a Potential relay. The run cap also forms part of the total starting capacitance, and also the start winding is designed to carry current (not just starting current). Consequently the overload will be uprated due to the extra current.
You might therefore have to update the start capacitance value, and reduce the overload value....it starts to get messy!
I'm sure that you could stick with the Potential relay. Again lets have the compressor number which might help further. How come the mix up....new compressor or new electrics?
