    .

You will definitely need a level of specialist training before BOC (the UK supplier) will sell it to you.

The minimum will be either CITB Safe Handling of Refrigerants or City and Guilds 2078 on normal refrigerants, plus BOC's course accreditation for HCs.

Equipment wise, you will need purpose designed gauges lines etc,. Any electrical equipment used in conjuction will need to be intrinsically safe.

Suggest you contact BOC direct for details.

can be nasty ! as said you need to retool, only work in well ventilated areas, triple vac first, break with nitro before brazing, weigh the charges in spot on,dont seal with naked flame, or dont bother with the stuff !

I know that the most of HCs need to be explosion proof.Don't release directly to atmosphere,it should be vent to torch tower.and most of HCs gravity is lighter than lube.

I don't think we'd even sell it to you until you've been on a safe handling course - Care40 is high grade propane so obviously we need to make sure we're not just giving it to anyone. This is in addition to your usual fluroocarbon qualifications.

Call the sales office and they can give you details of the course; it's half a day.
It's a lovely day to pump some gas

Many thanks for your information guys.
I'm ACRIB registered in ammonia & HCFC's so understand that special training is required for HC's. Think we all should do it, its the next generation in refrigeration technology!
