    Chemical wash on condenser of chilleers



    Hi,
    Anyone has experience on chemical wash on condenser of chiller please advise.
    I would like to know the points to be aware of and precautions need to know etc.
    The chiller concerned is Ebara with plates design.

    Weak solution of sulfamic acid at a temperature around 50 deg C helps to clear the scales. This should be following by circulation of caustic solution.

    Both of these require you to circulate the mixture on the heat exchanger.
    We find it very effective on plate heat exchangers, but remember to circulate the mixture counter to normal flow

    According to the product guy I spoke to a few years back, it's not a marine pollutant and can be flushed to sea after use.
    for a closed system follow the neutralizing instructions, for a system open to the sea, just run the condenser pump for 5 hours to remove all residue

    Holy crap! I'd not let that anywhere near my brazed plate heat exchangers. It's almost all hydrochloric acid. The chloride corrosion of the copper brazing would be terrible.

    oops, not to be used near brazed heat exchangers

    Good thing it said so in the product pamphlet *whew, dodged a bullet there*
