    Thermosyphon

    HI EVERYONE,

I'm new to the refrigeration and i'm confused abot the thermosyphon oil cooling. Can anyone just recoment a good book regarding the same?,and also while selecting the condenser,do we need to consider the oil cooling load also? can you please explain?

    Thanks.

Thank you very much for the info...DO WE NEED TO CONSIDER THIS THERMOSYPHON LOAD WHILE SIZING THE CONDENSER????

Rocky, Yes heat is rejected into condenser, same as if it was water cooled oil coolers were getting water from condenser sump.
If designed correctly, very reliable and no virtually maintenance free.
If Liquid supply to oil coolers for the thermosyphon is incorporated into liquid receiver or separate pilot vessel,
liquid should not come directly off bottom to avoid oil entering refrigerant side of oil cooler.
Also if not in article thermosyphon should have preferential feed over liquid feed out to plant so it is the last thing to run out of liquid.
No liquid, no oil cooling, compressors cannot work correctly.

I also believe compressors last longer or are in better condition, possibly because because oil temperatures are very stable, not to cold, not to hot, if not using a 3 way valve around oil cooler to maintain correct oil temps.
Possibly not required unless in very cold climate.
