Starting Out
Hi thought about a change in career , looked at the
10 Day Refrigeration and Air Conditioning New Starter Course
New Starter course was quoted £1700 is there any other way
that is cheaper to make a start ? And to start a career what
certificates are employers after ?
not employed by a refrigeration company etc , can read books etc
but hands on , bits of paper and experience count in any trade .
thanks for help and advice .

Re: Starting Out
Personally,
A 10 day course??
- You would be suitably qualified to start sweeping the floors with the other new apprentices, sorry.
No shortcuts for experience, if you haven't got it you are at the bottom of the ladder and have to work your way up.

Hi Hyb,
What job do you do now? What is it about refrigeration that attracts you?Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Re: Starting Out
Depends on your financial position. Are you prepared to start a 4 year apprenticeship with basically nothing in your wallet for the first year or Two?
Maybe find employment as a Trades assistant. Reasonable pay and a few years of basic "Hands on" labor under the supervision of a competent Refrigeration Tech will determine if this side of the fence is worth signing up for. Either way, there is no short-cut into this field. ( "Viking" nailed it with far less words.)To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
