Has anyone seen a Toshiba fail like this?
Went to a call out today, was verbally told the fault code which was a compressor discharge thermistor failure, so went armed with a new one. I had my suspicions as the unit is only a few months old, however we never really install Toshiba units, so wasn't sure if it's a common problem (We almost exclusively install Mitsubishi Electric, ended up with Tosh as the consultant insisted)
However when I get to site the problem appeared to be far worse than originally thought, PCB was blown, thermistor cable melted and a hole on the compressor discharge pipe - system was empty. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before on a Toshiba? Model no. is RAV-SM564ATP-E.
Looks as though the holder for the thermistor rubbed it's way through the pipe over time, it's basically just a clip which is pretty sharp, however the thermistor cable was melted as was the high temp cable tie holding it on and it took the PCB out with it so trying to work out what has actually happened. Obviously trying to get Toshiba to replace this unit as a manufacture defect!
See attached pics.

Looks like the hole was caused by an arc when the cable shorted out on the pipe to me , doubt it would have rubbed through in a few months .

A picture of the outdoor unit PCB would be good, it looks like board failed and arced over to thermistor.
I love the smell of Ammonia in the morning!

Power consists not in being able to strike another but in being able to control oneself when anger arises

Have you tried contacting the supplier of the equipment?
If its a manufacturing problem, you should be eligible for full or at least part payment to cover the failure.
Toshiba now offer 7 Years warranty on the equipment, you need to return the Toshiba commissioning sheets.
