Celcius/Fahrenheit setting locked
Hey guys, I have a vector 1850 Mt with the celcius/Fahrenheit setting is locked (it has the lock symbol beside it)
I just got reefer manager but can't get it to connect to the unit. It brings up a message: Cannot open the com port (error=87) I'm using a usb adapter which I use with wintrac for TK units. Would this be the problem?

Re: Celcius/Fahrenheit setting locked
Ya the driver package was installed. I managed to connect today it was the usb adaptor that was the problem even though it works for my wintrac programme. Does anyone know if there is a certain brand or model of usb to cable adapter needed for Carrier reefer manager?

Re: Celcius/Fahrenheit setting locked
Yes you can use the USB/Serial adapter with TruTech software as long as all the drivers are loaded in the correct order. Carrier advises only to use the adapter that they sell but some others do work, which you will only find out through trial and error.

Re: Celcius/Fahrenheit setting locked
Most of these programs were made to run on Windows XP.
So a second hand Dell Inspiron d630 (or similar)with a serial port is a good idea. As they are a business laptop they are fairly robust. Available cheap on fleabay.

Carrier software uses the prolific type chipset USB rs232 adaptor only.
Ebay sells them for a few quid.
