    gas turbine efficiency

    hi guys,
i would like to get information about calculating gas turbine efficiency.
2nd, the effect of humidity and ambient temperature on gas turbine efficiency

    thanks

    .

    Gas Turbines?

Ahmed, this is a refrigeration forum. Some of us may know a little about centrigugal compresssors, but not perhaps, turbines.

You may not get any meaningful replies, but..... here's hoping.

Anybody out there know about turbines?

    Re: gas turbine efficiency

I suppose Ahmed_LNG posted this question because refrigeration compressors are also used to liquify gasses like LNG.

I had a rather specialised and intensive course Turbines while I did my ATPL.
It was the most difficult section I had.

If you like, I can look to make some scans of the my course but it's mainly in Dutch.

But the availbale knowledge on my hard drive above my eyes is very litlle after the years. I had to empty it to make place for other things.
I have in my small library a book about industrial compressors from O'Neill.

    Ahmed,

I could not find exactly what you are looking for, but did find other information that may be useful to you.

Have you asked the turbine manufacturer for the calculations?

They should have access to this.

Here is are some articles for air precooling to improve turbine output power:
    http://www.caldwellenergy.com/pdfs/evaluation.pdf
    http://www.ctiac.com/
    http://www.donaldson.com/en/gasturbi...ary/000586.pdf

Here is a relatively cheap program for the calculations:
    http://www.engineering-software.com/pr/sku27554.htm

    http://www.bechtel.com/PDF/BIP/39232.pdf

    And some general information:

The best reference to this I can give you is a book called Thermodynamics by Yunus A Cengel & Michael A Boles. Fasinating, clear reading.
    ISBN 0-07-115247-4

    Published by McGraw-Hill.

    A very good book

Well, I've found some information and formulas but the document is too large to attach. PM me an e-mail address and I'll send it

    Re: gas turbine efficiency

I have the book (the older second edition) and it's indeed interesting but if you look on Ebay or second hand books liek Abe, Amazon,.., you can find it for +/- 15 to 20 $.
There is also a CD delivered with the book.
