Re: Scrap compressors
.
In the past we have had some scrap yards refuse the comp because
of the oil and sometimes because they are deemed a pressure vessel.
Over the years the compressor has been in and out of favour with the
scrap yards so I'm not sure how we stand at the moment.
We have in the past had to cut, drill, grind or any other method of getting
a hole into the thing to drain the oil and prove it is not pressurised.
If they play silly buggers then cut the things open and drain the oil out.
Regards
Rob

Re: Scrap compressors
EMR will take compressors, you need to register with them first, passport, driving liscence and recent utility bill, then you can dump ur pots- they used to take them as fridge motors, but now theyre just classed as non ferrous- so basically 20 quid for 200kg

Re: Scrap compressors
hehe here in South Africa we know how to recycle. We grind our faulty compressor pots open. Get all the copper out and then go to the scrap yard. Get a nice chunk of $ for the copper.
