Condenser approach temp
The trane RTWD condenser was cleaned. The approach temp. before was 25°F and now it's 14°F still high. I am suspecting about the volume of water entering the condenser. Is there any instruments to measure the amount of water entering?. I saw that the scales in the tubes were removed. Pls...help
Thank you...

Re: Condenser approach temp
You need ultrasonic flow meter for that purpose.

Re: Condenser approach temp
overcharged system may indicate higher condenser approach.

Re: Condenser approach temp
Did you look down or blow through each tube to make sure they are not blocked.
Chemical clean not always perfect if blocked in middle of tubes.
Have you checked water strainers, sump water level & pump operation.
Are there any valves, etc in water lines that could restrict flow.
Also water sprays in cooling tower.

Re: Condenser approach temp
Is the water flow in the condenser the correct way around ?

Re: Condenser approach temp
Use a differential pressure gauge to measure the pressure loss.
check the correct pressure drop from the manufacturer's manual.

Re: Condenser approach temp
There are gate valves and check valves in the water line. Gate valves are old but we've just replaced the check valves

Re: Condenser approach temp
There are check valves in the water line, and flow cannot be reversed

Re: Condenser approach temp
Condenser inlet is 84.2°F and out is 92.1°F.
By the way pls analize this reading for the compressors:
L1 92.5%
L2 93.5%
L3 100.3% of its rated current. Isnt it imballanced?

Re: Condenser approach temp
As per your condenser delta T (8F) the chilled water flow is ok. But your inlet water temperature is high considering local ambient wet bulb temperature. I think your wet bulb is 70F (google).then condenser inlet should be 75F.arount 9f is high. Check your cooling tower whether it is performs. When inlet temperature is high, approach also will be high.
