Whats good for the Goose is not good for the Gander

    http://www.coolingpost.com/uk-news/g...ban-exemption/

We can thank the EU for the accelerated time scale to implement the R22 ban and replace this gas with high GWP refrigerants only for these to now require replacement.

In the article above A major UK gas processing plant has been granted an exemption to continue using up to 35,100kg of reclaimed R22 refrigerant until July 2016.

    So the questions are now:
did they not jump fast enough to put a high GWP refrigerant in place?
did they not think the replacements available at the time were acceptable?
    Was EU time line unrealistic?

What makes me rant is the option to 'export' the R22 when they have replaced it.

I would have thought the idea was to remove the gas completely not just move it around the world, after all we all share the same ozone layer.

I had heard that there were plans to export the recycled R22 to other non EU countries and also that there may also be plans to build a process that strips the R22 out of the recovered oil so that less is wasted.
