Bluebox Water Cooled Screw Chiller_Pressure Relief Valve Issue
Dear All,
We are facing one strange problem of opening of Pressure Relief Valve(PRV) at condenser before the HP Alarm (through 1 HP Transducer and 2 HP Switch) is activated. Initially we thought the issue is with the valve, but later on we found strangely that at Hot Gas Discharge line, Discharge pressure is under HP limit whereas at liquid line before Drier, the pressure has increased to whopping 9 bars above Discharge Pressure measured at Compressor Outlet!! We found the reason why PRV opened before HP, but we are still not able to understand the increase in Pressure. Its R134A based system.
I would like to inform you that this Chiller is operational from past 3 years and working fine till now.
Any support will be great help!!

Sbkvelocity,
Can you confirm with a known calibrated gauge that discharge pressure transducer is
reading correctly.
Measure both points at same time, in off & running condition.
Nohing is impossible, but sounds unlikely.

Interesting....This thing economized? Any oil cooling arrangement?

Re: Bluebox Water Cooled Screw Chiller_Pressure Relief Valve Issue
when it happen ?
is it in starting time or in running time.
what is your setting pressure for HP and PRV. and ambient temp.
do you have small valve in line of gauges?
are they work correctly?

any check valves anywhere in system creating liquid lock, and hydraulicing liquid line.
