    filter drier failures

Can anyone shed any light on what could cause disintigration of the wire gauze mesh and the dessicant balls within the drier on 15 Gram filter driers fitted to some small commercial hermetic fridge systems. It appears the dessicant balls are breaking up and clogging the mesh but the mesh is also disintegrating. Failures have been seen in as little as 10-12 months.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi David.
Have you ever considered using a refrigerant analyser to see what contaminates you have.
Also an Oil analysis would help.

Do you think its possible you could have a high moisture content?

Have you suffered a motor burn out that you know of?

If that's happened then you could expect to have to change filters within days sometimes.
Oil can also cause restriction which in turn cause the gauze to turn itself inside out sometimes.
Particularly if your comps are powerful enough!

    Good Luck Grizzly.
