    Refrigerant piping



    Guys need help!,i am about to install 2.5 tons split a/c but i nave a doubt because the pipe lenght exceed to its maximum more than 25 mtrs,.should replace the pipe size from 5/8" suction and 1/4" discharge line????pls.

    bigger system capable of handling the length of piperun, also check the maximum height limit aswell

    I had an issue a few years ago with a Sanyo system with roughly 15 indoors on it, no bs boxes just refnets. Installed to drawings etc, came to commission it n the design eng was flapping as the installed length was about 100m more!
    Sure enough the pots went down after only a short time, we ended up splitting the system in 2 and adding another outdoor!

    Re-position your outdoor or indoor unit until you get to distance allowed by manufacturer of equipment, or use water chiller and fan coil instead of direct expansion unit.

    You might get away with 10m over but not 25m, bigger unit or move outdoor as suggested above.
    Mostly found in the southern part of this green and pleasant land.

    3 months ago we reinstalled 2 x s/h LG splits (30m max pipe run) for a client who knew they were over piped and accepted the risk.

    1st move

    unit 1 = indoor ground floor to outdoor ground floor 15m
    unit 2 = indoor 1st floor to outdoor ground = 45m

    quite happy condensers below indoor gravity assisted oil return

    2nd move (permission for outdoor units location refused)

    unit 1= indoor ground floor outdoor 2nd floor roof = 75m
    unit 2 = indoor 1st floor outdoor 2nd floor roof = 40m

    outdoor units both above indoor unit 1 = 13m unit 2 = 5m , oil return who knows?

    charged by beer can cold.

    Only issue thus far one unit iced up as they set it at 18c (they both run small server room)

    You'd be amazed by what level of abuse these splits can cope with..

    Though, should i proceed?.bec this crazy engr. That we only need to change the pipe size from 5/8" to 3/4". And 1/4" to 3/8"

    What the guys are saying is no. Even though R.B. has stretched the boundaries it doesn't mean it will work for you.
    Up sizing pipe diameter will slow refrigerant velocity and oil return.
    Condenser kit still has specific sized inlet and outlet so the volume of refrigerant flow cannot be increased.
