Changes in safety standards for Pipe and pipe fittings

    .

Pressure testing can be done to lower values now that a new
specification has been introduced across the EU.

Effects of changes to Safety Standard BS EN378

The strength pressure test to copper pipe systems was unclear in the original version. The latest version has now been clarified and allows, subject to certain criteria being met, for the strength pressure test to be carried out at 1.1xPS.

A table has been produced to show maximum pressures at different temps.

Table 1 – Maximum Allowable Pressure (PS) of copper tube for the commonly available
diameters and wall thickness at temperatures of 50°C, 100°C and 150°C.

    See IOR Guidance note 25

    Regards

Who is going to tell all consultants this new info? Every site I go on they want a different test pressure for r410a especially. You can't even draw the needle on your test gauge anymore as it's no good a week later...
