Just wondering why they are so noisy
Hi guys,
When I was on the road I`d often be parked up next to a fridge truck with the unit banging away for all it was worth. Now here`s my question: just why are they so noisy, I`ve worked on large diesel compressors that you can hardly hear running. I imagine the engines for the fridge units aren`t overly large but you can hear them across a large factory yard in fact they seem noisier than the truck itself. Is it all down to cost ie the makers don`t want to put a quiet exhaust and decent sound antenuation in them? after all noise pollution is a big problem these days.

Re: Just wondering why they are so noisy
If you cover them up too much they cannot get airflow over condenser etc the exhaust systems I agree are very basic but they exit at the top

Re: Just wondering why they are so noisy
you must of been parked next to an old SBIII or a Carrier Ultima/XT.
The old carriers are the worst for noise.
Most modern fridges are quiet.
