Single-split VS Multi-split
I have a 3 bedroom apartment. Shall I get 3 units of single split A/C or 1 unit of Multi-split that supports 3 A/C. What are the pros and cons?
Thanks in advance for any advise/recommendations

Re: Single-split VS Multi-split
Multi split pros: if outdoor space is limited, these are good as you only need one condensing unit, ie if you only have one balcony or very small courtyard.
multiplit cons: If that unit breaks down, you have no air conditioning.
individual split cons: if space is limited, you'll have no balcony or usable courtyard as it will be full of condensing units.
individual split pros: If one breaks down, you'll still have air conditioning in two rooms.
conclusion: If space allows, individual units are better for redundancy.
edit: You could take power consumption of a multisplit being better, but that's only if all three individual splits would all be running together anyway.
I have three small splits myself, study, lounge and bedroom, only two maximum would be running at any time.Last edited by paul_h; 13-02-2009 at 03:54 PM.
