copeland compressor
Hey I have a Copeland discus compressor, when the compressor power is turned off and the discharge valve is fully closed the pressure drops in seconds to the same pressure as the suction. Wondering what you think it is. Valves or internal relief
Thanks

Re: copeland compressor
I'm not sure how you can tell, presumably the symptoms are the same in either case, though sometimes bad valves can whistle as the pressures equalise.
Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Re: copeland compressor
Hi jsw
As Monkey Spanners says it would be hard to tell if it is the valves or the relief, best thing to do is pull the heads off and inspect the valves and at the same time check the relief. It could also be a damaged head gasket.

Re: copeland compressor
Is it a discus digital compressor? Does it have unloaders. Perhaps the suction valves default to an unloaded position when the power is removed. If so, maybe what you are seeing is system equalization?
Just a thought?

Re: copeland compressor
it might be happen due to two reasons.
1.if the system is overcharged, during the pump down the relief valve will bypass the excess gas.
2.leakage of valves or valve plate.
if you check the compressor head temperature if it is above 140c as it is working, the particular head is bypassing.
