    248 volt, open winding

I have a 200v-230v 1 phase compressor that has the common winding open. Took power off, got back to it in 4 hours, same result, protector doesn't close. Checked voltage: 248 volts. Can this be the cause of the burn out?

    .

    That is about 8 - 9% over??

I know of sites that are rated 230v and we get 252v which is near to the 10% maximum.

It is possible, but probably unlikely.

I will replace it tomorrow and will cut open the old one to see what happened.
