Danfoss DHP-A SP (ASHP)

Anyone fitted one of these?

From the technical description it seems to be a Ground Source Heat Pump spoofing as an ASHP by using an air collector running glycol instead of the ground loop.

Client had one installed about 3-4 years ago and it's never worked properly, original installer from Cheltenham (could name and shame if pushed ) refuses to go back and fix and won't issue MCS certificate needed for DomRHI - so I presume system wasn't designed or installed to MCS standards, Danfoss been no help either!!

Rumours says Danfoss HP staff down to 3 in the UK - any truth?

Main issue is loads of High Pressure faults, though it is running into a buffer tank, so shouldn't really have those unless filters blocked (possibly/probably) or sensors up the creek.

We've got Wednesday morning booked in to see if we can fix or else rip it out and put a new split unit in that he can get DomRHI on. (So replacement won't cost him anything : ) )

Don't get shackled by them. I thought they were registered esp if they do council and housing association work around the area?

Anyhoo HP trips should be fairly easy to sort once you're on site

Just because you've got the certificate doesn't mean you're any good...

We've fixed so many other 'certified' installers c*** u*s that we've lost count...

Good salesman never makes up for good design or good installation, unfortunately some customers can;t see through the smoke and mirrors...

Danfoss made loads redundant a while back.....and now trying to hire again...tried poaching some people I know. If your ripping out why go for a split system, just stick with a monobloc....

So so true, Weve followed many into properties where the instals have been shameful. However,
This is an old soapbox rant for me. It seems there are loads of Muppets going for all and sundry with quals for this and that , they acheive Competent person and MCS etc. but the instals can be so horrific.

I recently dobbed up an installer to the local building control, because he'd not installed pressure relief to a vessel, basically a time bomb. He copied this over into 3 dwellings.
His comment to the occupier was, " yeah they can blow up but only under very special circumstances...."

Frightening ....... but then that's the wet trade for you.

Anyway back to origial post, installation is so badly done, it's actually going to pay the client for us to rip it all out and replace it with a properly installed split system that will be MCS and RHi compliant.

Why split? #1 reason: No need to glycol in heating system

Not all need glycol, I don't get why the manufacturers haven't clocked on to frost protection yet. We don't specify it
