    Nightmare :(

    Alright lads,

Had a suction valve to swap on a Mitsi vrv 2day it wouldn't heat up for love no money!
The bloody thing ended up shearing off as I'm tryna move it whilst heating it up with the oxy!
I reckon it's due to the wet rags on the brass valve behind it, reckon I'll need to braze it up without the rags?! Good idea?

Brazing a valve without properly wet ragging it is never a good idea.

The solution lies in more power.
Bigger nozzle, perhaps a pepper pot type, is the way to go.

Changed a four way valve on one of those with only front access and it was a nightmare as that big brass manifold takes all the heat.I would wet rag everything. Two torches might be an idea. Get a pepper pot nossle or a big nossle like a 16. Even with rags the brass will absorbe a lot of heat. Was the old one leaking? Get the side cover off the unit to get better access for brazing. Good luck.

My secret wepon is the smith quick braze torche with a big C style multijet tip, it is like a jewlers torch, great for such instences, and best off all got it from fley bay cheap, failing some investment in a simple torche as others said need to flash the heat into the joint faster befor it propigates to the valve, and all ways keep the valve quenched.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMITH-QUICKB...item4d1ef06637 here is a link to the first one I found if interested, I do highely recomend them, the hoses are crap but easy to replace, and it does make life real easy on such instences.

I sorted it a while ago now, did it by using the van jack to get at it underneath n cutting a big hole in the case

oxy acetylene is best as its a confined heat- maybe use a turbo torch heat sheild to concentrate the heat - or as you say hacksaw the valve out and move the valve and possibly the flange forward- saves trying to unsweat it
