Faulty R12 system

Hello guys

Found a faulty compressor on a r12 food well, difficult to access service valves but question I'm asking can a drop in gas/new compressor on r134a/437a be ok to use?

Has l'unite hermetique CAJ 4461A condensing unit piped to x2 expansion valves/ x2 evap coils. Your help and ideas would be most appreciated

Doesn't oil come with the new compressor Brian? Quoted New r134a compressor and use a drop in gas. Be a pain to fit but do-able

New compressors normally come with an oil charge.

But what are you going to do about the mineral oil in the system?

R134a unit and run it on R437A, have done it myself a few times.

G'day freezergeezer was gonna remove compressor and blow out with OFN or is that not enough to remove mineral oil would I need to some use something else?

Cool monkey spammers R437a good to use have had a couple old r12 fridges been gas up with that drop in. It's going to be an interesting job...the other strange thing is I have no clue where the bloody stat is located, can't see the bulb or mechanical stat near condenser/electrics.On previous ppm checked cutting in and fine couldn't find it

Could be using a LP switch to maintain temperature, cycles on suction pressure as cabinet warms up.

To change oil in compressor you'd need to remove it and tip oil out the suction tube.

Oops soz monkey spammers ha spanners bloody predictive text. Yes has an l.p. switch that makes sense nice one pal didn't realize it could maintain temp with that cheers

No worries, been called much worse :-p
It could still have a stat somewhere but have seen older stuff controlled that way. You will need to adjust the lp if that is the case as the new refrigerant will run slightly different pressures.

Ok will reclaim the gas and recharge similar charge see how it goes not worked much on r12 been gone for a while I guess lol tricky part changing compressor probably need to alter pipe work gonna be interesting! Had evap covers off and looked for stat must be l.p. switch maintaining temp. Are you from up north monkey?

Update on job went back to site to complete maintenance and found system had new compressor with r437a gas all working fine! I'm with the engineer tomorrow who fitted it so will ask him how bad it was, apparently took him all day to do bet he was pleased to have got the job! Anyways thanks for your advice

you have to replace all the oil if you using different refrigerant
