Hi LC,
I believe the author of these articles is simply trying to assemble a checklist of items to follow during a project.
I did not read all of it, but these mirror some of the methods I use.
When starting a new project:
List the requirements
List the assumptions used
Calculate the loads
Develop a system flow diagram (on paper)
Select equipment
List all of the information on the flow diagram
I may have missed a few steps, but you see the progression. If everything is written down you have a much better chance of remembering what you did several months later when the system is started.
