    Wheat Silo

    Hey there.
I'm an intern mechanical engineer. My firm produces chiller, cooling tower etc.
Last day my boss asked me for silo cooling system. He said he ll give a proposition to a client.
What should I consider while calculations? What component should I use for that?
    Thank you for being helpful.

    Re: Wheat Silo

Firstly, what sort of silo is it?

One for food products, grain etc or an underground one for ballistic missiles?

    Re: Wheat Silo

I would start with the size of the Silo, the product holding capacity. Then comes the interesting part what dryness fraction for wheat holding, ambient temperatures storage duration and ventilation rates.

Sorry but asking on a forum like this when designing a system with some complexity is bound to fail.

    Welcome to RE.

Regarding your question ... many years before (1979 ....) I was working in company producing ref. compressors, valves, evaporators etc. and refrigerant equipment like cooling/drying unit for silo ...

unfortunately I do not have any document from that time, but I believe here you will find some good information you need:

    http://www.frigortec.de/mediathek/ge...pflege_eng.pdf

    http://www.frigortec.de/downloads-2

    http://www.frigortec.de/mediathek/fr...nt-of-rice.pdf

Your company is producing chillers it should not be a problem for you to construct cooling system for silo or maybe you can get some other idea too ....

Hope this is of some help to you.

    Best regards, Josip
