    Jobs in Ireland

    Hello All,

At the moment We (the wife and myself) are thinking of relocating to Ireland and start our own bussiness.
During startup time, I would try to find a nice job in the refrigeration.
At the moment I do work for one of the biggest companies in supermarket refrigeration here in Holland.
    (almost 13 years now)
Before that some years in industrial refrigeration

I have all the legal dutch papers to work with refrigerant (was one of the first batch) and did all the necessary safety coarses.

    My Questions are:
Are dutch papers legal in Ireland.
Are there jobs to find in supermarket refrigeration

Any information on relocating is welcome.

    Thanks in advance

    Victor

In Northern Ireland there is no manditory requiements or qualifications required to work at refrigeration, there was some skill cards brought into the south, but I have not heard much about them recently

Safe Pass is reqired to work on sites in Ireland, south is manditory, North most sites won't allow you in without some sort of safety training.

    Kind Regards. Andy

Your papers will be recognised here but won't be required, all you will need to do is a simple safety training course. currently there are plenty of jobs in where i am in cork, and i'd say in dublin.

    Good luck

    Thanks for your replay Al
I've got a international safety passport and appropriate international trainings since I do need this at big plants like corus (the big dutch steel factory)

So in Ireland there is no need for special licences, are there any regulations about how to treat refrigerants, working methods or so ?

If possible can you give some adresses of local firms so I can get in touch with them.

    Thanks in advance

    Victor,

Try www.goldenpages.ie and type in refrigeration, i can give you local addresses ie in cork.
The only requirment on the way is city and guilds refrigerant handling cert. and what is called a safe pass cert for site work. anything beyond that is purely for your own benefit!!

Rates here are from 10 to 18 euros per hour depending on where you are located etc.

house prices and cost of living is very high but the wages go some way to off setting this. with your experience you should have no problem getting a job, and once here it's easy enough to move on.

Thanx in advance for the honest answer.....

When Hungary , is " incorporated" within the EC, I think there is a 2 year grace period, before the Freedom of Movement, comes into play, then as a EC national you will have a right to work within the Community.

That is assuming Hungary is to be a part of the enlarged union.

Theres nothing " honest" about it, its all legislated in black and white.

I will try dig out the facts when I have a spare minute.

Is that the answer you are looking for???

    Hi,

    half of that...
As I am seriuosly thinking about working somewhere else, I am curious about the chances to find work over there. I don't think that the legal stuff would be too big challenge if there are work opportunities and as far as I know we joined to the Union on 01/May/2004 so probably the grace period is soon over (I have no info about it yet but I'd like to take steps as soon as possible)
    So the other half is:
is it possible to find a decent refrigeration job (with relevant Hungarian qualifications) for a Hungarian over there?

Hungary has been in the EU for a couple of years now, Abe.

Perhaps you are thinking of Romania and Bulgaria that are due to join next year?

Some states have limits on EU 10 nationals working - none though as far as I am aware in the UK.
    Don't know about Ireland.

The point about the original poster's query is that mutual recognition of skills is part of the new F Gas regulation and will be expected in future revisions of the ODS regulations.

It's a bit of a swiz in point of fact when we compare the minimal standards in this country and Ireland against the stringent requirements of the Dutch STEK laws.
