    sabroe smc 16-100



    hello gentlemen. I want to install the motor compressor
    a variable speed controller (vsc) know that the model is very old. I would like your opinion and your experience in similar cases

    hello Dim.
    personally I would not apply a VSD, as there is a minimum speed requirement for oil pump and suitable lubrication. The compressor is energy efficient at a fixed speed and utilize the cylinder unloaders for capacity regulation.
    Just my preference others may have alternative opinions

    Also to add to Magoos post.
    On certain compressors the flanks are held together by centrifugal force and if slowed down too much, the flanks tend to seperate. Obviously catastrophic for the compressor.

    minimum speed for SMC 16-100 is 700 rpm and max. is 1500 but you should look for sabroe books and find right min/max speed in different evaporator /condenser temperature also it is different if you have water or air cooled covers
