    Vulkan 1.8 CFM vacuum pump

    Hi

I would like to recommed a light vacum pump to my students.

    I use a JB 5CFM but it is so heavy ( 16kg).

Bought a 1.8 CFM 2 stages pump and it is only 8kg

I imagine vacum time would be problem, but is it possible to use this pump
to small units or even larger units ?

    Moises

You will struggle to pull a deep vacuum. Connect a torr gauge and try it out. Man-up a bit 16kg is nothing!

CFM rating does not have much effect on how deep a vacuum the pump will pull, this is more influenced by the pumps ultimate vacuum rating and how clean the oil is in the pump.

Standard 72" gaugelines will only flow 0.8CFM so going big on a pump is only worth doing if you run bigger hoses and core removal tools.

Its worth watching the whole series, this is number five and has a bit about hose size verses flow.
