propane screw compressore failur (HOWDEN)

Good day all,

I am working in a gas plant. our issue is with propane screw compressor package, we are suffering a lot from the damaging of the seal due to oil continamated with vapor water or some thing else. The colure of the oil changed to the milky oil and also the consumption of oil is too high>is any one could help us.

Mustafa,
Maybe you need to check oil with oil analysis & find out what contamination is.
When you find out what it is check where contamination could come from, then go from there.

Excessive oil consumption could be damaged coalescers in oil separator, or loose. Replace/tighten.
Also liquid propane entering compressor could also wash oil out.

can you give us some more info ...

Your package is ... closed circuit to cool down some other process gas or propane liquefying plant,

is it one stage plant with economizer or two stages

suction pressure ...condensing pressure ...

is it used for boil off gas, cooling also some butane ...

type of oil cooler ... temperature of oil entering compressor ... discharge oil temperature

how old is your plant ... what maintenance you did on plant ...

Please, write down all what you think can help us to troubleshoot your plant ...it is not an easy job to do remotely ...we need as much as possible data regarding your plant ...

our package is a propane refrigeration package (three identical trains). Each package is designed to deliver 3592 KW of refrigeration at -36C.The propane package is installed in the GAS HC DEWPOINT CONTROL UNITE.

2-one stage plant with economizer (I HAVE dwg for all the train if you need).

3- type of oil cooler>>tube and shell cooler by water

4-delta p of oil at starting is 5 bar after warm reaches 3 bar

5- our plant life just 9 years.

the problem is commen for all trains

please Ringer1 & I have sent to only some oil failure reports, we still have the same failure up to know.Josip I would like to send you some PICS & data sheet in order to compare with the actual data, but I could not up loaded here, please advice how can I up loaded ,so you can have complete picture.there is quit different between design data and actual data

These are the information

Model:- WCVTN/510

temp. of oil= about 60c.

sorry about delta P of oil it is=4.3

gas section temp.=-13

gas disch. temp=81

seal type=John crane 279/part Nr.N0579108040

elastomers are used in shaft seal & compressor= Viton / PTFE

coupling is installed on compressor/drive motor=METASTREAM TLKS-2000.

moreover, HAVE ASKED TO DO A COMPLETE TEST FOR OIL AND GAS.

the oil has been changed many times
