Back Pressure Valve

Hi all,
Somebody has idea the application of back pressure valve (ex. PM3 of danfoss)?
Is this applicable on glycol system?

Hi Guapo

The Danfoss PM3 is a modular valve, the PM3 is a 3 Port main valve with room for 3 pilot valves. PM valves are now being replaced by Danfoss, with the ICV range, same pilots, but an improved main valve, better part load performance, less bounch open - closed due to the v ports in the barrel around the gas entry point.

I have used the PM3 on evaporators as pressure regulators to stop fluid freezing, or as crankcase pressure regulators to stop compressor overloading on hot start-ups

My first question is... why is the back-pressure regulator being added?

It will certainly work on a glycol chiller or water chiller for that matter.

If the valve is being added to keep the evaporating temperature of the chiller at a higher pressure to prevent freezing, I suggest you might have other problems that should be investigated.
