Gree split unit not cutting out at temp.

    Hi All

Hoping you can advise or help.
I have a Gree Split unit 9000btu, (hummer) Model GWHN09EANK1A1A/I

It has been installed for quite a while as an additional cooling aid but we don,t
really use it all that much, but this year was extremely hot and found that we
relied on it quite a lot, this is when i discovered that the unit is not switching off
at the desired temp. and runs continuous. The unit is out of warranty but still like
new.Is it possible to wire the sensor incorrectly and if so how can i check it, I don,t
really want to get the tech guys out yet as I am a pensioner and the rates are so high.
Maybe you could also advise where i can obtain a wiring diagram for this unit.

Looking forward to your reply and help

    Kind regards
    rozzerh

Check for power at the relay when you are at thermostat off condition.

Sounds like the relay contacts are welded.

Are you saying it doesn't reach desired temperature....or it runs too cold? Chances are it can't get to the set point in hot conditions.

Re: Gree split unit not cutting out at temp.

    Hi all
Thanks for all your responses i do appreciate it.
Frank.... I am not a air con expert and know very little about the workings so you will have to treat
me as a real novice.... Is the Relay in the outdoor unit or in the Indoor unit and how do I test it?

Install monkey..... What or who is DESA?

Mikeref.....It does reach the desired temp and in fact probably lower than required, I tested yesterday
and set the remote to 25degC and checked the room temp later and it was 23degC and at the
intake side of the indoor unit it was 24.3degC. and the unit was still running.
If i set the temp. to 20degC it cools to that temp and lower but still keeps running. Its as if the
sensor is not reading it if thats possible, thats why i asked if it can be connected wrongly.
This means I can not run the unit during the hot nights as it gets too cold and has to switched off
and on manually throughout the night.

    Thanks one and all

    Regards rozzerh

usually the indoor is powered and this supplies the outdoor unit- if so then the power relay is usually mounted on the indoor pcb
if its power to outdoor and then the contactor/relay will be in the outdoor unit
sometimes theres a wiring diagram on the outdoor unit somewhere
if there was a sensor miswired then the unit would alarm, usually with flashing lights on the indoor

hi what is the area of the room and does the remote have a "fast cool" or "turbo" button maybe the function is on and that will cause it to run continues

Re: Gree split unit not cutting out at temp.

    Hi all
Once again thanks for your help

Install monkey......Cable from the power supply runs from the inside plug point to the outside
into a ducting and obviously back in at the top to the indoor unit, so i will have to get up and open up the cover to see which is fed first, I can also look for a diagram...The outdoor unit is about 3m up the wall so
as soon as i can do it i will get back to you.......The filters are like new.& no flashing lights
    to indicate a wiring fault.

    jigga23.....The area of the room is 3.8m x 4.4m (16.72).....There is a turbo button but i checked
    and it is switched off.

    Regards rozzerh

Re: Gree split unit not cutting out at temp.

    Hi all
Just an update to my problem as above.
I managed to get the guys who installed the units to check them out
and they found the sensors faulty, they said it was a pretty common
problem with these units. They replaced them and all seems fine now.
I asked for the old ones and don't know if there is a way to test them
and apparently they come in a set of 2.

    Regards Rozzerh
