I have been in visit of one chiller producer and he claimes that he can produce chiller for -20 C outdor temperature with R 134a,single stage compressor Bitzer. He show me one such chiller and I coud not see enithing spectacular on it only have biger air heat exchanger then one for normal ambient temperature.

Re: Heat pump H2O for -20 C
Sure, why should this be not possible and the fact that R134a is used doens't change anything.
But why then not use a drycooler when it's outside -20°C?
You don't need a chiller at all at this conditions. It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Maybe they are claiming it works as a heat pump at -20°C ambient air temperature, which is clearly a marketing blahblah.
