ice accumulator

Good Day All,

please see attached pictures and Is this normal and What do i need to look for to find out whats happing and stop it?

Depends on what we are looking at...
If the first picture is of a liquid line drier then you have a blockage upstream of it, if it's a suction line filter it might even be normal depending on the application...
The second picture is a suction line accumulator? It might be normal, it all depends on what the system is used for.
On Low temperature applications like freezers it is not uncommon to have frosting/ice buildup all the way back to the compressor.
However, most of us would insulate the pipework to prevent ice and condensation.

this system has two bitzer compressors with one suction line

Viking couldn't have said it better! Seeing as it is a low temperature application (-25 degree.C), it is normal to see ice on the suction isolation valve at the compressor but that's where is should stop. If the suction piping is insulated that would be all you'd see. It's also not uncommon to insulate the accumulator.

maybe the problem with the expansion valve not adjusted properly
