I've posted a few times in the past and had been asked by a few members to keep them updated with my progress.

A few months ago I converted my first (have 3) CA monitor top from a float valve to a capillary tube with the help of some friends from the monitor top forum. Unfortunately the float valves appear to get destroyed in these machines for some unknown reason resulting in very warm evaporators. We originally thought these machines used a rotary vane compressor however it is actually an oscillating rotary compressor.

The progress and entire project with lots of pictures can be viewed at : http://monitortop.freeforums.net/thr...16-restoration

So far the machine maintains impressive temperatures with low run times running fresh methyl formate.
