judging by the amount of irreplaceable fridge companies over the years who have tried and failed why not.

Depends if they keep the engineers and management that run the supermarkets or they use there own . If they keep the same contract as wr or if they have to renegotiate. They already look after co op .

It doesn't seem like a good time to be a supermarket refrigeration engineer. All the big companies (Hussmann,Linde,Honeywell) have gone as there is no money in the service of UK supermarkets. These were the companies that good T&Cs for engineers years back too, cars instead of vans, double time after 12 on a Saturday(never mind a Sunday!), private health care, and final salary pensions, all seem like things of the past now. Now we are working harder for less, and I can't help but think that FM companies coming into this sector is only going to make things worse.
Doom and gloom, Friday moan, winter sadness disorder?.

Its the same with anything, you just need to adapt and survive, instead of harping on about the past look to the future and how you can best take things forward. Good engineers will always be required, and maybe just maybe the thinning of contract payments is one way to oust lazy **** engineers who aren't focusing on a first time fix, and rest on their laurels too much.
Integral have taken a lot on, good luck to them I say, at least they are taking pro active steps to ensure engineers still have jobs.

Spoken as a man that has survived!
True and Fair sentiments they are, BUT there are those that through no lack of ability will have been let go.
Spare a thought for them.
I have been out of work for 2, 3 month periods in 43yrs.

Both times being made unexpectedly redundant!

Despite those skill and positive attitudes.
We all get s*it on occasionally.
