Compressor windings
Morning all been called to a cabinet the compressor is off on clixon my question is if the compressor is off with the wires diconnected would there still be resistance between the windings as I have nothing between common and run and nothing between start and run

Re: Compressor windings
Sooty should of made it clearer the klixon was external with hot windings would I still get resistance even if they were very warm

Re: Compressor windings
Yes you should get a resistance reading across the windings.
Check also for earth faults.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Compressor windings
If you have no reads across common and run then it will be open circuit.
Measure the resistance across common and start and then run and start.
If OK the reading across C to R + C to S will equal R to S.
Its an easy way to find the correct winding and if both run and start are OK.
Also check C, R and S to earth individually and you may see some earth leakage.
