    Whirlpool k20 won't harvest

Evening all been looking at a k20 IM and found the ice thickness stat faulty (very thin watery ice no matter what setting ) replaced that cleaned condensor fit gauges all gas pressures ok left on test for over an hour still no harvest checked the ice thickness stat and still the unit proceeded to run changed for another stat solved that issue but the unit still will not harvest even with the stat on its minimum setting any help would be grea

evap plate has to reach -8 to initiate harvest, check fill solonoid isnt passing
also xbox had the same issues- read the link

That would explain the constant drip of water

also ice thickness should be 8-12mm thick

These ice makers are very sensitive to lime scale buildup on evaporator. I never install them without softener (ice slab stick to evaporator and cannot drop to heater). Once you install softener and regularly regenerate it and clean it with citrus acid or vinegar, no problems with their operation. They are so simple.

Also, replacement ice thickness thermostat must be original one. Do not adjust ice thickness unless you don't have at least 1/4 of ice bin filled with ice.

Also, it is not suitable for use in hot environment with poor ventilation (unless water cooled).

Good working ice thickness termostat has correct position at the middle of its adjustment range.

All above affect ice thickness of that ice-maker.

Yea that n the fact it's not worked for 6 months but previous to me looking at it nobody has worked on it for 7 years there no limescale but the condensor was full of crap sorted that changed ice stat with original but still won't harvest

Now you need to check temperature of evaporator. If it is higher than -8°C it cannot go in harvest cycle!

Ice thickness thermostat work at -8°C to -15°C depending on position of regulating stem.
Try first with regulating it to thinest ice position if it is going to switch to harvest. If not in 30 min., you are having problems with refrigerant circuit.

If that is the case, you probably you have either partial restriction of filter dryer or some refrigerant leak if you have excessive superheat and low evaporation temperature in same time. If you have high suction pressure and low condensing pressure with amperage draw smaller than 80% of compressor FLA than you have probably inefficient compressor.
