    split ac indoor unit electric heater



    hi
    i got LG split air conditioner heatpump
    i opened the indoor unit cover so i saw electric heater on the evaporator




    what its utility
    for melting ice when evaporator frozen in cooling mode
    or as backup heating when defros cycle energized in heating mode

    You sure that is a heater and not an ionisation module?

    ioniser...
    look at the nameplate for electrical load- prob around 50watt for fan motor and comms- if it was a heater then it would be of a higher output

    is there any wall amount heat pump contain electric heater in indoor unit or not

    mitsubishi mr slims about 10yr ago used to have a boost heater option
    imi hilo units had elec htr but theyre 20 yr old
    any electric heater will affect energy efficiency ratings- also a fire hazard too- burgerkings used to use york ducted units with electric reheat batteries in the duct - lots of flashy lights when a 90kw 3ph heater bank blows an element

    on imi's they were for heating as reverse cycle heating in low ambients meant regular defrosting , on mitsi units they were an option to boost output -in cooling mode on any air con then the indoor shouldnt freeze up if aslong as the filters clean,setpoint is within limits and gas charge is ok

    It should be electric heater for winter use.
