Fridgemaster MTRF222 Freezer cold, fridge warm
Hi,
I have a Fridgemaster MTRF222 fridge freezer. The freezer appears to be working fine however the fridge is not getting cold. I've checked behind the unit and the compressor is very hot (can only touch for a couple of seconds at most) and as far as I can tell is running constantly.
I've tried removing the back panel to see if I can access anything else however all the panels are glued down with foam. Inside the fridge and freezer there are no panels that can be removed. Removing the fridge light/thermostat just reveals cables. The thermostat appears to be working correctly - it will switch off the unit at 0, and will turn it on with a demand for cooling.
The problem developed after it has been sat switched off for a month whilst away on holiday. The fridge has never managed to get cold despite being switched on for 3 days now.
Does anyone have any ideas what to check for?

When the stat is on 3 is the compressor running?

Re: Fridgemaster MTRF222 Freezer cold, fridge warm
The compressor only switches off with the stat at zero, otherwise everytime I check on the fridge the compressor is running and feels red hot.
Can anyone tell me how the fridge cools down (I'm assuming it is via the freezer somehow). There's no fan shown on the wiring diagram. Will an increased freezer temp be the giveaway for the gas leak, what temperature should it roughly be at max (7 on thermostat).

7 is normally coldest 1 warmest. Only 1 stat would indicate it controls both, is the freezer working still? If comp is hot suspect it will be short but could be a blockage or comp itself you would need to call a refrigeration engineer to delve further into the cause.
