    Exclamation Ebay

I won an auction for a watch from a seller in Vegas, which was alledgedly a jewelry shop. He didn't have a Paypal account & I wasn't happy about giving my credit card details to his 'secure on-line payment facility'. The guy told me that his partner was English & that I could send a cheque to her parent's house in Yorkshire. I was reasonably happy with that & so I was going to post it this morning when luckily I logged on to the computer first & found that I'd got an E-mail from Ebay. They said that the seller's trading privilages had been suspended & under no circumstances to continue with the transaction outside of Ebay. Close call or what
If a seller does not have a Paypal account be VERY wary as it's a quick & easy account to set up & also you're covered up to £500 if it all goes tits up.

Try world pay or Western Union.

A free advice: Never buy from a seller who doesn't use PayPal.

    Re: Ebay

I've found that the chance of getting bargains are now getting less & less on there as there are more traders now jumping on the bandwagon to make a fast buck. More often than not the 'buy it now' price is what the RRP is in the highstreet, plus you've got the postage on top of that, which is more often than not vastly inflated in their favour which is further profit for them. Also check the real value of the goods that you're bidding on -I've quite often seen bidding for 2nd-hand goods go above what you'd pay for stuff that's still available new

win your auction in the last 3 seconds by using a snipe.

    Hi

I,ve bought and sold on E-bay with only one disaster that was a police scanner.I,m presently looking to buy a grand voyager, I consider this a high risk factor so I expect a bargain unfortunately sellers seem to want market value. Can anyone recommend this model and is there any negatives with LPG.

    Re: Ebay

I've just had my first dispute. I won a 2nd hand Detail Sander on May 8th for £2.28 + £4.00 postage in an auction. The seller from York obviously changed his mind as it never arrived. All my e-mails were ignored. I followed the dispute process with PayPal and got my money refunded yesterday. The dispute system does work so always pay using PayPal.

    Re: Ebay

For eBay, Paypal is the way to go. I've been ripped off twice, and those two times I paid by money order. One time when I paid by Paypal and the seller didn't ship, I reported the incident and I got my money back.

I agree that paypal is a safer way than using cheques and credit cards to pay but Paypal are also rip off merchants. Iv had hundreds of pounds "stolen" by paypal so now refuse to use it.

I used to be an eBay Powerseller and I was very active in the eBay Business Seller forum. Many sellers now prefer alternative methods for payment, especially those who lost money and their goods when Paypal settled a dispute in the buyers favour.

All auction sites have their fare share of fraudulent sellers and buyers, and you should never bid on an auction just about to end, unless you have previously read and understood the complete description, terms & conditions.

I have bought £834 of goods from eBay in the last 60 days, without a single issue. I'm currently waiting for several items from a Chinese seller; should arrive in the next 7-8 days.

    Re: Ebay

Inside the European Union I often pay with an International Payment. Outside the EU I only trust Paypal. Western Union is like sending cash and can get lost, same with cheques. So if the seller doesn't have Paypal, I don't buy.
