You can imagine the cold object as if it were a spring when you compress a spring you store a specific amount of energy inside it by releasing it you can get the energy which you've stored.

By extracting 1MJ of heat from a liquid it will be very cold and will contract then it will cool the surrounding environment and will absorb 1MJ of heat and expand producing 1MJ of mechanical energy we can use this mechanical energy (the energy of expansion) to cool it again for free.

And this is the main idea of the Fridge that powers itself this type of fridge can generate a huge amount of cold forever to cool any thing.

Of course we can use this free cold in any purpose the more we'll consume the coldness from the cold liquid the more it'll expand and produce mechanical energy finally we will have free cold.

You know I'm not a specialist but I'm a good thinker:

I think we can use the energy of expansion of the cold object to help us cooling it again, of course the machine that violates the law of conservation of energy wont work.

Think about it bring a glass bottle and fill it with water put it in the fridge until the water freezes the glass bottle will explode because the water will expand and produce very high pressure.

The coldness will not be consumed during this operation (the expansion), I think cold is not like heat when you use heat energy to perform work the heat energy will be affected by the work that has been done.

Another point is the dry ice they produce the dry ice by pressurizing carbon dioxide when we release the pressure the CO2 turns into ice;

When we use the dry ice to cool things it expands and produce very high pressure you can search Google about what is called the Dry Ice Bombs, Dry Ice Bombs are being created by putting some pieces of dry ice in a closed container that is full with water, water loses heat and freezes and the dry ice gains heat and expands more and more this causes the pressure in the closed container to increase dramatically suddenly the container explodes.

Cold is not like heat you can produce dry ice to cool the world then you can get the pressure which you have spent to produce the dry ice because the dry ice will expand.

I think we know the difference between cold and heat!
We work with it daily!

There is no such thing as "cold". Cold does not exist, there
is only heat and heat is a form of energy. Some things have
more heat inside them than others so we say one is hotter
or one is colder than the other but both have heat (energy)
just at different levels.

Energy (heat) always flows from high to low unless you push it
and if you push it you pay for the privilege. Nothing in this world
is free you always pay some where.

You used the example of a glass of water in a freezer expanding and
cracking the glass. Who pays for the freezer to run? and how much does
it cost compared the the amount of work done in cracking the glass.

You also used the C02, dry ice as an example. How do you think the C02
got to be dry in the first place and at what cost.

Cars will run down hills all day for free, but there comes a time when somebody
has to push it back up the hill and that is not free...

Entropy, John, you forgot entropy.

The problem with the Carnot cycle is that it is usually expressed as an 'ideal' process. Ideal, in this context, means that entropy is not considered. In the real world it means it's not possible.
