    Can you restrict yourself to a single post per item.
    Multiple posts just clog up the system.

    with the brief information you have given. I would guess you have either a unloader issue.
    Where a cylinder/s unloaders are slowly unloading.
    Or more likely you have a failed discharge non return valve.

    Leaving the compressor subjected at start -up to discharge gas pressure.
    Hence why the compressor rotates after sufficient time which has allowed the suction and discharge pressures to equalise.

    It may happen due to over tight of the belt, over charged system and as Mr.grizzly said compressor starting with loaded condition. Check the head temp then can indentify the discharge read problem. Is the system is properly pump down?

    Pl check your discharge valves all are free from leak, as per your message once you opened the discharge valve compressor getting jam,
