Heating compressors / systems for recovery

Anyone have any clever tricks / tools for heating compressors / refrigeration systems for recovery? I'm growing old recovering this system, and my trusty rubber mallet is getting a lot of use. Worse is that this one is a burnout and having a tank in-line to collect the bad oil probably isn't helping anything.

Anyone use a space heater? Nichrome wire? Halogen lamp? Heat blanket?

Hot air gun, have used halogen lamp too and on farms bucket of very hot water from the plant wash boiler, depends on the size of system.
Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Yeah I'm hesitant to use the torch because it always runs out when I need it. That and I'm really good at unintentionally burning stuff. Woohoo!

Heat gun usually means I have to sit with it.

Here's a question... could I run some juice through the compressor coils without the start capacitor attached? Or would that cause a (further) burnout?
